everything old is new again

April 13th, 2011

April 22nd is Earth Day, and that’s a perfect time to come up with at least one thing you plan to do to help make the world a little bit greener.  The ideas are endless: plant something (whether one seed or a whole garden), ride your bike instead of driving somewhere, cut down on your water usage, or start recycling.

At Name Maker, we are doing our little part by offering our personalized gift wrap on recylced and recyclable papers.  Choose from a variety of eco-chic colors and styles for Earth Day or any day.

Wish Bracelets

January 21st, 2011

At Name Maker, we love to spotlight the interesting and creative ways our customers use our products.

Brillantmont International School, in Lausanne, Switzerland, uses our personalized ribbon for  Wish Bracelets.  Wish Bracelets are ribbons which are customized with any wording for a particular cause or event (in this case, sayings which are popular with their students.)  The wearer makes a wish as they tie the ribbon around their wrist or ankle. When the ribbon falls off, the wish “comes true”.

Wish Bracelets are a great fundraiser for schools and other youth organizations.  Brillantmont sold them to help fund a Habitat for Humanity trip!

Thanks, Brillantmont, for sharing the photos and for the great work you are doing with Habitat for Humanity.

In our busy, gadgety, electronic lives, we seem to have less and less time for little niceties, like writing a thank-you note.

We have several fun designs of fill-in-the blank thank-you postcards.  These cute and easy notes are a great way to teach kids the importance of sending a “thank you” note for the holiday gifts they receive.

At $8.95 per set, they make a wonderful stocking stuffer or Hanukkah “happy”, and are perfect for any child on your list.

Name Maker on Martha Stewart

November 5th, 2010

Darcy Miller, the  Martha Stewart Weddings Editorial Director (and guru of all things party, wedding, and style) recently used some of Name Maker’s products as part of the favors for her daughter’s “slumber party” birthday party.  She showed them on a recent episode of  The Martha Stewart Show.  Everyone on the show and in the audience wore pjs (yes, even Martha!)

Darcy is so talented and creative, so of course Ella’s Slumber Party  was filled with fabulous and fun things to do and create. (see the video clip here: Name Maker on Martha Stewart: Slumber Party Show)

As party favors, guests were given mini alarm clocks, which were packaged in our pink and white polka dot favor boxes and topped with our personalized stickers (designed by Darcy).

So many of these great party ideas would be easy and fun to do yourself, so put on your pjs and watch the show!

Crafty Halloween!

October 8th, 2010

You can be all about the treats with just a few little tricks from Namemaker!

Dress up Halloween party favors with personalized ribbon (choose a ghoulish saying like “Best Witches from the Smiths” or “Eat, Drink, and Be Scary”.

Add a personalized sticker to treat bags or baked goods…we have many adorable designs.

Or wrap up a hospitality gift in our personalized gift wrap…”To the ghostess with the mostess”.

Have a happy and safe Halloween!

New Label Designs!

October 4th, 2010

When it comes to label designs, we pride ourself on having both vintage and current designs. (Make new friends, but keep the old?)

We’ve added some new personalized labels… I think you’ll love them.   They have no pre-set wording, so you are free to be very creative with the text to make them truly customized.  These fun new designs have quickly become best-sellers.

They are a great gift to give your favorite knitter, crocheter, or crafter (or, of course,  to get for yourself!)

How much ribbon?

September 30th, 2010

One of the questions we are most often asked is “how much personalized ribbon should I order for my project?”  While we do have the easy solution posted under FAQs on our website, I thought I’d still go ahead and post the instructions here.

1.    Take a piece of string or ribbon and tie it around your gifts, boxes or favors exactly the way you want the finished product to look (bow, knot, etc…)
 2.    Cut it to size, then measure the piece of ribbon or string.

 3.    Multiply the length size of your cut piece times the number of items the ribbon will adorn.  For example – you are making 120 favors boxes and the amount of ribbon needed for each box is a 12” piece.  12 x 120 = 1440 (this is the amount of inches needed for the 120 favor boxes)

4.     Lastly, divide your total ribbon inches by 36.    1440 /36= 40 (this is the total amount of yards you will need for your favor boxes.)
 5.    Therefore, you will need to order 40 yards of continuous print ribbon  from Name Maker.
